| 1 | | AN ACT concerning government.

| 2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
| 3 | | represented in the General Assembly:
|
| 4 | | Section 5. "An Act to renew the Great Seal of State," |
| 5 | | approved March 7, 1867, is amended by changing Section 1 as |
| 6 | | follows:
|

| 8 | | Sec. 1. Be it enacted by the People of the State of |
| 9 | | Illinois, represented in the General Assembly, That the |
| 10 | | secretary of state is hereby authorized and required to renew |
| 11 | | the great seal of state, and to procure it as nearly as |
| 12 | | practicable of the size, form and intent of the seal now in |
| 13 | | use, and conforming with the original design, as follows: |
| 14 | | "American eagle on a boulder in prairie-the sun rising in |
| 15 | | distant horizon," and scroll in eagle's beak, on which shall be |
| 16 | | inscribed the words: "State Sovereignty," "National Union," to |
| 17 | | correspond with the original seal of state, in every |
| 18 | | particular. The seal of state shall bear the date "December 3, |
| 19 | | 1818," in recognition of the date of Illinois' statehood, and |
| 20 | | that date shall replace any other date appearing on the seal of |
| 21 | | state before the effective date of this Amendatory Act of the |
| 22 | | 100th General Assembly. Any further additions or changes made |
| 23 | | to the design of the seal on or after the effective date of |
