| 1 | | AN ACT concerning local government.

| 2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
| 3 | | represented in the General Assembly:

| 4 | | Section 5. The Sanitary District Act of 1936 is amended by |
| 5 | | adding Section 4.3 as follows:
|
| 6 | | (70 ILCS 2805/4.3 new) |
| 7 | | Sec. 4.3. Combined waterworks and sewerage system. A |
| 8 | | sanitary district may, by ordinance, combine and jointly |
| 9 | | operate the district's waterworks and sewerage systems. A |
| 10 | | sanitary district operating a combined waterworks and sewerage |
| 11 | | system may: (i) improve and extend that system; (ii) impose |
| 12 | | rates and collect charges for the use of that system; and (iii) |
| 13 | | issue obligations and bonds under the same terms and conditions |
| 14 | | that it may issue obligations or bonds for a waterworks system |
| 15 | | or for a sewerage system and may pledge revenues from the |
| 16 | | combined waterworks and sewerage system in payment of the |
| 17 | | obligations or bonds.
