AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 1336




2    AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend House Bill 1336 by replacing 
3everything after the enacting clause with the following:

 
4    "Section 5. The Illinois Insurance Code is amended  by 
5adding Section 143.19.3 as follows:
 
6    (215 ILCS 5/143.19.3 new)
7    Sec. 143.19.3. Prohibition of rate increase for persons 
8involved in emergency use of vehicles. 
9    (a) No insurer authorized to transact or transacting 
10business in this State, or controlling or controlled by or 
11under common control by or with an insurer authorized to 
12transact or transacting business in this State, that sells a 
13policy of automobile insurance in this State shall increase the 
14policy premium, cancel the policy, or refuse to renew the 
15policy solely because the insured or any other person who 
16customarily operates an automobile covered by the policy has

1had an accident while operating an automobile in response to an 
2emergency when the insured was responding to a call to duty as 
3a volunteer EMS provider, as defined in Section 1-220 of the 
4Illinois Vehicle Code.
5    (b) The provisions of subsection (a) also apply to all 
6personal umbrella policies. 
 

7    Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon 
8becoming law.".
