| 1 | | AN ACT concerning elections.
|
| 2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
| 3 | | represented in the General Assembly:
|
| 4 | | Section 5. The Election Code is amended by changing Section |
| 5 | | 3-4 as follows:
|
| 6 | | (10 ILCS 5/3-4) (from Ch. 46, par. 3-4)
|
| 7 | | Sec. 3-4.
No patient who has resided for less than 180 days |
| 8 | | in of any hospital or mental institution in this State, shall |
| 9 | | by
virtue of his abode at such hospital or mental institution |
| 10 | | be deemed a
resident or legal voter in the town, city, village |
| 11 | | or election district or
precinct in which such hospital or |
| 12 | | mental institution may be situated; but
every such person shall |
| 13 | | be deemed a resident of the town, city, village or
election |
| 14 | | district or precinct in which he resided next prior to becoming |
| 15 | | a
patient of such hospital or mental institution. However, the |
| 16 | | term "hospital"
does not include skilled nursing facilities.

| 18 | | Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon |
| 19 | | becoming law.
