| 1 | | AN ACT concerning State government.
|
| 2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
| 3 | | represented in the General Assembly:
|
| 4 | | Section 5. The Military Code of Illinois is amended by |
| 5 | | adding Section 28.7 as follows:
|
| 6 | | (20 ILCS 1805/28.7 new) |
| 7 | | Sec. 28.7. Presentation of State flag. When a member of the |
| 8 | | Illinois National Guard dies while serving in duty or training |
| 9 | | statuses pursuant to Title 10 or Title 32 of the United States |
| 10 | | Code as approved by the member's service component, the |
| 11 | | Adjutant General, the Assistant Adjutant General for Army, or |
| 12 | | the Assistant Adjutant General for Air shall present one State |
| 13 | | flag of Illinois to the next of kin of the deceased Illinois |
| 14 | | National Guard member who receives the United States burial |
| 15 | | flag, or that person's designee, as soon as is practicable.

| 16 | | Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon |
| 17 | | becoming law.
