AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 3052 




2    AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend House Bill 3052 by replacing 
3everything after the enacting clause with the following:


 
 
4    "Section 5. The School Code is amended  by adding Section 
511E-140 as follows:
 
6    (105 ILCS 5/11E-140 new)
7    Sec. 11E-140. Combination of Chicago Heights School 
8District 170 and Ford Heights School District 169.
9    (a) On July 1, 2018, Chicago Heights School District 170 
10and Ford Heights School District 169 shall be combined as a 
11single school district, which may be referred to as Heights 
12School District 170.
13    (b) The school board of the combined Heights School 
14District 170 shall consist of the 3 members of the school board 
15of Chicago Heights School District 170 whose terms expire in 
162019, 2 of the members of the school board of Chicago Heights

1School District 170 whose terms expire in 2021, as selected by 
2the school board of Chicago Heights School District 170 before 
3its dissolution, and 2 of the members of the school board of 
4Ford Heights School District 169 whose terms expire in 2021, as 
5selected by the school board of Ford Heights School District 
6169 before its dissolution. Following the 2019 consolidated 
7election, the school board of the combined Heights School 
8District 170 shall consist of the 2 members of the school board 
9of Chicago Heights School District 170 and the 2 members of the 
10school board of Ford Heights School District 169 whose terms 
11expire in 2021 and the successors to the 3 members of the 
12school board of Chicago Heights School District 170  whose terms 
13expire in 2019, who shall be chosen by the electors of the 
14combined Heights School District 170. All successive members of 
15the school board of the combined Heights School District 170 
16shall be chosen by the electors of the combined Heights School 
17District 170.
18    (c) Upon the combination provided for by this Section, the 
19combined Heights School District 170 is responsible for any 
20outstanding bonded indebtedness of Chicago Heights School 
21District 170 or Ford Heights School District 169. 
 
 
22    Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon 
23becoming law.".
