AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 3157




2    AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend House Bill 3157, AS AMENDED, by 
3replacing everything after the enacting clause with the 
4following:




 
5    "Section 5. The Department of Public Health Powers and 
6Duties Law of the
Civil Administrative Code of Illinois is 
7amended by adding Section 2310-22 as follows:
 
8    (20 ILCS 2310/2310-22 new)
9    Sec. 2310-22. Tracking food deserts.  The Department, in 
10cooperation with the Department of Agriculture, shall notify 
11respective municipal governmental bodies identified as food 
12deserts and provide an annual report to the General Assembly by 
13December 31 of each year that identifies the locations of food 
14deserts within the State and provides information about health 
15issues associated with food deserts. If the annual report 
16contains information from the federal government that

1identifies the locations of food deserts in the State and 
2provides information on health issues associated with food 
3deserts, then the requirements of this Section shall be 
4satisfied. For the purposes of this Section, "food desert" 
5means a location vapid of fresh fruit, vegetables, and other 
6healthful whole foods, in part due to a lack of grocery stores, 
7farmers' markets, or healthy food providers.".
