AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 3157




2    AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend House Bill 3157 by replacing 
3everything after the enacting clause with the following:




 
4    "Section 5. The Department of Public Health Powers and 
5Duties Law of the
Civil Administrative Code of Illinois is 
6amended by adding Section 2310-22 as follows:
 
7    (20 ILCS 2310/2310-22 new)
8    Sec. 2310-22. Tracking food deserts.  The Department shall 
9provide an annual report to the General Assembly by December 31 
10of each year that identifies the locations of food deserts 
11within the State and provides information about health issues 
12associated with food deserts. If the annual report contains 
13information from the federal government that identifies the 
14locations of food deserts in the State and provides information 
15on health issues associated with food deserts, then the 
16requirements of this Section shall be satisfied. For the

1purposes of this Section, "food desert" means a location vapid 
2of fresh fruit, vegetables, and other healthful whole foods, in 
3part due to a lack of grocery stores, farmers' markets, or 
4healthy food providers.".
