Amends the School Code. Requires the State Board of Education to withhold a school district's evidence-based funding for any given school year in which the chief county assessment officer for any portion of the district intentionally fails to properly and accurately prepare assessments under the Property Tax Code for property within the district for the preceding levy year until such time as the State Board determines that such assessments have been correctly prepared. Effective immediately.

2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,

3 | | represented in the General Assembly:

4 | | Section 5. The School Code is amended by adding Section |
5 | | 2-3.84a as follows: |
6 | | (105 ILCS 5/2-3.84a new) |
7 | | Sec. 2-3.84a. Withholding funds; property tax assessments. |
8 | | The State Board of Education shall withhold a school district's |
9 | | evidence-based funding under Section 18-8.15 of this Code for |
10 | | any given school year in which the chief county assessment |
11 | | officer for any portion of the district intentionally fails to |
12 | | properly and accurately prepare assessments under Section 9-95 |
13 | | of the Property Tax Code for property within the district for |
14 | | the preceding levy year until such time as the State Board |
15 | | determines that such assessments have been correctly prepared.

16 | | Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon |
17 | | becoming law.
