| 1 | | AN ACT concerning State government.
|
| 2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
| 3 | | represented in the General Assembly:
|
| 4 | | Section 5. The General Assembly Compensation Act is amended |
| 5 | | by adding Section 5 as follows:
|
| 6 | | (25 ILCS 115/5 new) |
| 7 | | Sec. 5. Prohibition on sexual harassment payoffs. |
| 8 | | Notwithstanding any other provision of law, no public funds, |
| 9 | | including, but not limited to, funds appropriated for office |
| 10 | | allowances under Section 4, shall be paid to any person in |
| 11 | | exchange for his or her silence or inaction related to an |
| 12 | | allegation or investigation of sexual harassment, as defined in |
| 13 | | Section 5-65 of the State Officials and Employees Ethics Act, |
| 14 | | committed or allegedly committed by a member of the General |
| 15 | | Assembly.

| 16 | | Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon |
| 17 | | becoming law.
