AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 4334 




2    AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend House Bill 4334 on page 1, by 
3replacing lines 21 through 23 with the following:
 
4"Investigation's system. Each applicant for a school bus driver 
5permit whose fingerprints have been determined to be 
6unclassifiable by the Department of State Police as a result of 
7a fingerprint-based criminal background check shall submit a 
8name-based criminal background check through the Department of 
9State Police.  The name-based inquiry shall be submitted in the 
10form and manner prescribed by the Department of State Police, 
11as set forth under the Illinois Uniform Conviction Information 
12Act.  The Department of State Police shall charge a fee for 
13conducting the name-based criminal background check, which 
14shall not exceed the actual cost of the check.  The cost 
15associated with the criminal background check shall be the 
16responsibility of the applicant.  Once a search of the Illinois 
17criminal history record information database has been

1conducted, a response containing known Illinois convictions 
2shall be sent to the requester.   For each applicant for a school 
3bus driver permit whose fingerprints have been determined to be 
4unclassifiable by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the 
5Secretary of State must follow the provisions set forth by the 
6Federal Bureau of Investigation for the submission of 
7name-based criminal history background checks for a search of 
8the national criminal history record information database.";

10on page 2, by replacing lines 1 through 5 with the following:
