| 1 | | AN ACT concerning government.
|
| 2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
| 3 | | represented in the General Assembly:
|
| 4 | | Section 5. The State Commemorative Dates Act is amended by |
| 5 | | adding Sections 13 and 195 as follows: |
| 6 | | (5 ILCS 490/13 new) |
| 7 | | Sec. 13. Monarch Month. The month of May of each year is |
| 8 | | designated as Monarch Month to be observed throughout the State |
| 9 | | as a month to honor the Monarch Butterfly, which is the |
| 10 | | official State insect of the State of Illinois. |
| 11 | | (5 ILCS 490/195 new) |
| 12 | | Sec. 195. Day of the Horse. The fifth day of March of each |
| 13 | | year shall be designated as the Day of the Horse, to be |
| 14 | | observed throughout the State as a day to encourage citizens to |
| 15 | | honor and celebrate the role of equines in the history and |
| 16 | | character of Illinois, and to recognize the benefits of the |
| 17 | | equine industry to the economy, agriculture, tourism, and |
| 18 | | quality of life in Illinois.

| 19 | | Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon |
| 20 | | becoming law.
