1 | | AN ACT concerning government.

2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
3 | | represented in the General Assembly:

4 | | Section 5. The State Commemorative Dates Act is amended by |
5 | | adding Sections 13 and 195 as follows: |
6 | | (5 ILCS 490/13 new) |
7 | | Sec. 13. Monarch Month. The month of May of each year is |
8 | | designated as Monarch Month to be observed throughout the State |
9 | | as a month to honor the Monarch Butterfly, which is the |
10 | | official State insect of the State of Illinois. |
11 | | (5 ILCS 490/195 new) |
12 | | Sec. 195. Day of the Horse. The fifth day of March of each |
13 | | year shall be designated as the Day of the Horse, to be |
14 | | observed throughout the State as a day to encourage citizens to |
15 | | honor and celebrate the role of equines in the history and |
16 | | character of Illinois, and to recognize the benefits of the |
17 | | equine industry to the economy, agriculture, tourism, and |
18 | | quality of life in Illinois.

19 | | Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon |
20 | | becoming law.
