| 2 | | I move to accept the specific recommendations of the |
| 3 | | Governor
as to House Bill 4743 in manner and form as follows: |
| 4 | | AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 4743 |
| 5 | | IN ACCEPTANCE OF GOVERNOR'S RECOMMENDATIONS |
| 6 | | Amend House Bill 4743 by replacing page 1, line 23 through |
| 7 | | page 2, line 7, with the following: |
| 8 | | "No employer may discriminate between employees by paying |
| 9 | | wages to an employee who is of a protected class that is based |
| 10 | | on race, color, national origin, or ancestry, against whom such |
| 11 | | practices would constitute "unlawful discrimination" under |
| 12 | | Section 1-103(Q) of the Illinois Human Rights Act, at a rate |
| 13 | | less than the rate at which the employer pays wages to other |
| 14 | | employees who are not members of a protected class that is |
| 15 | | based on that race, color, national origin, or ancestry under |
| 16 | | this Act for the same or substantially similar work on jobs the |
| 17 | | performance of which requires equal skill, effort, and |
| 18 | | responsibility, and which are performed under similar working |
| 19 | | conditions, except where the payment is made under:".
