| 1 | | AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 5983

| 2 | | AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend House Bill 5983 on page 3, |
| 3 | | immediately below line 11, by inserting the following: |
| 4 | | "(E) If the Agency adopts rules, emissions |
| 5 | | standards, or permit conditions related to, or |
| 6 | | prohibiting the use of ethylene oxide for |
| 7 | | sterilization of medical products, then, |
| 8 | | notwithstanding any other provision of this Act, the |
| 9 | | Agency shall, by rule, provide that a hospital licensed |
| 10 | | under the Hospital Licensing Act or operated under the |
| 11 | | University of Illinois Hospital Act, shall be allowed |
| 12 | | at least 12 months, but no more than 18 months, from |
| 13 | | the effective date of this amendatory Act of the 100th |
| 14 | | General Assembly to discontinue its use of ethylene |
| 15 | | oxide for the sterilization of medical products, or |
| 16 | | otherwise comply with any emissions standards or |
| 17 | | permit conditions.".
