HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, When a school district changes or considers 
3changes to the guidelines, rules, and practices by
which it 
4operates, the entire process must be public and allow for 
5public input; therefore, be it
  
 




  
6    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE 
7HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, THE SENATE 
8CONCURRING HEREIN, that we urge Chicago Public Schools to 
9establish an advisory council when considering changes whose 
10membership includes:
11        (1) a member who is
an educator representing the 
12    Chicago Teachers Union;
13        (2) a member representing a different
citywide 
14    professional teachers organization, other than the Chicago 
15    Teachers Union;
16        (3) a principal and an assistant principal 
17    representing the Chicago Principals and Administrators 
18    Association;
19         (4) a member representing
a citywide parent education 
20    advocacy group;
21        (5) a  elected representative of the citywide Local

22    School Council Advisory Board;
23        (6) a member representing high school students;
24        (7) a member
representing elementary school students;

1        (8) two members who are university
scholars in the 
2    field(s) most closely associated with the change under 
3    consideration; and
4        (9) a
member of an established city or statewide 
5    organization that advocates for students or schools
in the 
6    area under consideration for change (if applicable); and be 
7    it further
  
 
8    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
9delivered to the Chicago Public Schools.
