HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, Building awareness and promoting a positive 
3impression of construction
trade crafts and enabling the 
4development of a talent pipeline between the industry and the  
5workforce of the
future is important for the success of the 
6industry; and
  
 
7    WHEREAS, Currently, Manufacture/Craft Your Future campaign 
8members are
scheduling presentation opportunities with 
9regional chambers of commerce, Rotary Clubs,
and other 
10community groups as well as meeting with school district 
11superintendents across
St. Clair, Madison, and Monroe Counties 
12to arrange presentations with teachers,
guidance counselors, 
13students, and parents; and
  
 
14    WHEREAS, Annually, a metro construction career expo is held 
15by Southern Illinois
Builders Association and the Southern 
16Illinois Construction Advancement Program in
Belleville to 
17address an acute workforce shortage in the construction 
18industry; and
  
 

  
19    WHEREAS, The construction industry workforce has thousands 
20of individuals retiring in the coming years, which
will create 
21numerous openings within the industry in Illinois; it will be 
22difficult to
fill all the jobs unless the current and future

1workforce is educated about the well-paid
jobs that will be 
2available; therefore, be it
  
 
3    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE 
4HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
5declare November 3, 2017 as Construction Craft Day in the State 
6of Illinois to encourage citizens to learn more about careers 
7in the craft of construction; and be it further
  
 
8    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
9presented to the Southern Illinois Builders Association CEO, 
10Donna Richter.
