| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 | | Representatives wish to congratulate the Mother McAuley High |
| 4 | | School Volleyball Team, the Mighty Macs, on winning the 2016 |
| 5 | | Illinois High School Association Class 4A State Championship; |
| 6 | | and
|
| 7 | | WHEREAS, The Mighty Macs won a record 15th State |
| 8 | | championship with a 25-19, 19-25, and 25-19 win against Minooka |
| 9 | | in the final at Redbird Arena in Normal; and
|
| 10 | | WHEREAS, The Mighty Macs, the #1 volleyball team in the |
| 11 | | country, are now once again, #1 in the State; and
|
| 12 | | WHEREAS, The Mighty Macs finished with a record of 40 wins |
| 13 | | and one loss, with 32 consecutive victories to end the season; |
| 14 | | and
|
| 15 | | WHEREAS, The Mighty Macs are USA Today and MaxPreps |
| 16 | | National Champions; and
|
| 17 | | WHEREAS, The Mighty Macs are the top-ranked squad in the |
| 18 | | nation by prepvolleyball.com, MaxPreps, and USA Today; and
|
| 19 | | WHEREAS, The Mighty Macs have won two championships in 12 |
|

| 1 | | years, 2016 and 2013; they won two titles in the 2000s, four in |
| 2 | | the 1990s, six in the 1980s, and one in the 1970s; 15 State |
| 3 | | volleyball titles, is the most by any school in Illinois, and |
| 4 | | the second for Coach Jen Dejarld; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Under the guidance of Coach Jen Dejarld and Meg |
| 6 | | Gardner, the Mighty Macs, including Maddie Dederichs, Ashley |
| 7 | | Maher, Charley Niego, Abby O'Brien, Paige Pappas, Katie |
| 8 | | O'Connell, Evie Gorman, Marykate Boland, Bridget Burke, Amanda |
| 9 | | Horn, Nancy Kane, Emma Reilly, Nora Burke, Casey Macander, |
| 10 | | Moira Mixan, and Becca Stepanek, along with managers, Caitlin |
| 11 | | Zintak, and Kayla Tilkes, have proven themselves to be not only |
| 12 | | "world-class athletes", but also "world-class young ladies"; |
| 13 | | therefore, be it

| 14 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE |
| 15 | | HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we |
| 16 | | congratulate the Mother McAuley High School Volleyball Team, |
| 17 | | the Mighty Macs, on winning the 2016 Illinois High School |
| 18 | | Association Class 4A State Championship, and we wish them many |
| 19 | | more successful seasons; and be it further

| 20 | | RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be |
| 21 | | presented to the Mighty Macs as an expression of our esteem and |
