HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives wish to congratulate Deborah Summers on the 
4occasion of her retirement as President of the National Hook-up 
5of Black Women, Inc.; and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, Deborah Summers served as President from 2008 to 
72016; she oversaw 24 chapters across the United States; and
  
 
8    WHEREAS, Deborah Summers is a founding member of the Joliet 
9Chapter of the National Hook-up of Black Women, Inc., where she 
10also served as President; the chapter is  now in its 26th year; 
11and
  
 
12    WHEREAS, Under the leadership of Deborah Summers,  National 
13Hook-up of Black Women, Inc. has
grown from 15 chapters to 24; 
14membership has grown tremendously and continues to
expand 
15throughout the United States; and
  
 
16    WHEREAS, Deborah Summers has instituted numerous programs, 
17including the "Real Men Read" and "Reading for Life" literacy 
18programs, domestic violence programs, and
minority mental 
19health initiatives; therefore, be it
  
 
  
20    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE

1HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
2congratulate Deborah Summers on her retirement as President of 
3the National Hook-up of Black Women, Inc., and we wish her the 
4best in all of  her future endeavors; and be it further
  
 
5    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
6presented to Deborah Summers as a symbol of our respect and 
7esteem.
