2 | | WHEREAS, It has long been a universal goal to eliminate |
3 | | traffic accidents and traffic fatalities; and
|
4 | | WHEREAS, Data has indicated that many traffic accidents are |
5 | | a direct result of poor peripheral binocular vision and glare |
6 | | from road and car reflections; and
|
7 | | WHEREAS, Correcting vision problems of drivers is an |
8 | | attainable goal; and
|
9 | | WHEREAS, The minimum requirement for visual acuity is 20/40 |
10 | | acuity, with or without corrective lenses; drivers with acuity |
11 | | between 20/41 and 20/70 are limited to daylight driving only; |
12 | | drivers must also have at least 140 degree peripheral vision |
13 | | (the ability to see to the side) to have a license without |
14 | | restrictions; this requirement is with or without corrective |
15 | | lenses; therefore, be it

16 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE |
17 | | HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we |
18 | | encourage all drivers in the State of Illinois to get annual |
19 | | eye exams to insure that they are able to drive safely; and be |
20 | | it further
