2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
3 | | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of
Jim Mamer |
4 | | of East Peoria, who passed away on November 28, 2016; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Jim Mamer was born in Mt. Vernon to James C. and |
6 | | Doris Stevens
Mamer on August 11, 1947; he graduated from |
7 | | Streator High School in 1965 and from Midstate College; he |
8 | | attended the Illinois Bankers School of Southern Illinois |
9 | | University and the
Graduate School of Banking at the University |
10 | | of Wisconsin in Madison; he served in the United States Navy |
11 | | during the Vietnam War aboard the USS Gurke; he married Lynn |
12 | | Ferguson at St. Stephen Church in Streator on May 4, 1968; and
|
13 | | WHEREAS, Jim Mamer was President and CO-CEO of Morton |
14 | | Community Bank; and
|
15 | | WHEREAS, Jim Mamer loved East Peoria and was instrumental |
16 | | in the success of several major projects, including the
|
17 | | development of the city's new downtown, the Eastside Center, |
18 | | the Par-A-Dice casino, the East Peoria Festival of Lights,
|
19 | | Leisure Acres, the East Peoria Civic Plaza, and the Jaycee |
20 | | fireworks show; and |
21 | | WHEREAS, Jim Mamer was an active volunteer and served his |
|

1 | | community in many ways, including as a
member of the OSF |
2 | | Healthcare Foundation Board, the Rotary Club, and the East |
3 | | Peoria Community Foundation; he was a charter member and former |
4 | | President
of the Kiwanis; he was also a member of the Jaycees |
5 | | and the East Peoria Chamber of Commerce; he was a Fondulac Park
|
6 | | District Commissioner and served as Treasurer for several |
7 | | school districts; he was recognized for his efforts in founding |
8 | | the Fondulac Banking Center and was a named the 1983 Business
|
9 | | Person of the Year; and |
10 | | WHEREAS, Jim Mamer's exceptional service to his community |
11 | | inspired a new Chamber of Commerce
annual award, beginning in |
12 | | the year 2017 and given to a member of the community who also |
13 | | reflects
Jim Mamer's qualities of public service, both |
14 | | personally and professionally; and |
15 | | WHEREAS, Jim Mamer was a proud grandfather and loved |
16 | | attending the extracurricular activities of his grandchildren; |
17 | | he was a member of Saint Monica Catholic
Church in East Peoria; |
18 | | and
|
19 | | WHEREAS, Jim Mamer was survived by his wife, Lynn; his |
20 | | sons, Michael (Lisa) and Matthew
(Heidi) Mamer; his |
21 | | grandchildren, Makayla, Hunter, Kyah, Peyton, and Logan Mamer; |
22 | | his sister, Diane (Alan) Bressner; his brother, Steven
(Pam) |
23 | | Mamer; his brothers and sisters-in-law, Cindy (Steve) |

1 | | Franciska, and Mark (Patty) Ferguson; and many nieces, nephews, |
2 | | and great-nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

3 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE |
4 | | HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we |
5 | | mourn the passing of Jim Mamer, and extend our sincere |
6 | | condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved |
7 | | him; and be it further

8 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
9 | | presented to the family of Jim Mamer as an expression of our |
10 | | deepest sympathy.
