HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Marianne
4Lyon of Harrisburg, who passed away on February 6, 2017; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Marianne Lyon was born in Harrisburg to Luther and
6Margie Bell (Dixon) Alexander on January 30, 1938; she
7graduated from Harrisburg Township High School (HTHS) in 1956
8and married Howard E. "Gene" Lyon on June 21, 1958; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Marianne Lyon worked as a secretary at Harrisburg
10High School for several years; she later owned and operated
11Brides Boutique and Marianne's Catering, where she served many
12brides and prom goers from all over Southern Illinois; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Marianne Lyon was a lifelong member of First
14Church of God, where she served in many capacities, including
15Sunday school teacher, youth leader, and on various boards; she
16enjoyed china painting and was a member of the Shawnee China
17Painters Guild; she organized monthly meetings and class
18reunions for HTHS; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Marianne Lyon was preceded in death by her parents
20and her brothers, Guthrie, Lyndel "Toad", and Tom Alexander;

1    WHEREAS, Marianne Lyon is survived by her husband of 59
2years, Gene; her daughter, Julie (Tim) McRoy; her sons, David
3(Lisa) and Toby Lyon; her grandchildren, Andrea, Aaron, and
4Alexander McRoy, Lydia and Chloe Lyon, Brooke Crane, Madison
5Medley, and Garrett Jenkins; her great-grandchild, Phoenix
6Womick; her special nephew, Kenny Jenkins; many other nieces
7and nephews; and her brother, Curtis Dixon Alexander;
8therefore, be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
10HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
11mourn the passing of Marianne Lyon, and extend our sincere
12condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved
13her; and be it further
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to the family of Marianne Lyon as an expression of
16our deepest sympathy.
