| 1 | HOUSE RESOLUTION

| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives would like
to congratulate Chairman Mark | ||||||
| 4 | Stephens on his 25th anniversary as chairman
of the board of | ||||||
| 5 | trustees at Triton College; and
| ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, A lifelong resident of the area, Chairman Stephens
| ||||||
| 7 | showed tremendous academic potential at a young age by
| ||||||
| 8 | graduating from East Leyden High School in three years; he went | ||||||
| 9 | on to attain a bachelor's degree in business and a Juris Doctor | ||||||
| 10 | from DePaul University, while also taking classes at his
local | ||||||
| 11 | community college, Triton College; and
| ||||||
| 12 | WHEREAS, Chairman Stephens went on to become owner of | ||||||
| 13 | Bomark
Cleaning Services in 1981 and an attorney at Storino, | ||||||
| 14 | Ramella
and Durkin in 1988, while also staying active in his | ||||||
| 15 | community
and charitable work; and | ||||||
| 16 | WHEREAS, Chairman Stephens was elected to the Triton | ||||||
| 17 | College
Board of Trustees as vice chairman in 1991, and assumed | ||||||
| 18 | the
position of chair in 1992; and | ||||||
| 19 | WHEREAS, In the first 10 years of Chairman Stephens's | ||||||
| 20 | leadership,
Triton College grew to support the needs of the | ||||||
| 21 | community; he recognized the need for technical training in
the | ||||||
| |||||||
| |||||||
| 1 | burgeoning computer field of the 1990s; and
| ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, Since taking office, Chairman Stephens has
| ||||||
| 3 | prioritized financial stability and institutional efficiency,
| ||||||
| 4 | using his business acumen and legal experience to balance a
| ||||||
| 5 | budget and create reserves in the case of future financial
| ||||||
| 6 | unpredictability; and
| ||||||
| 7 | WHEREAS, Chairman Stephens is a hardworking business | ||||||
| 8 | owner, lawyer, and
educational and community leader; he is also | ||||||
| 9 | a dutiful husband to Lisa, a proud father to Jacqueline, | ||||||
| 10 | Michelle,
and Mark, and a loving grandfather to Aiden; and
| ||||||
| 11 | WHEREAS, Chairman Stephens's passion for Triton College | ||||||
| 12 | has remained
unmatched, and while many things have changed over | ||||||
| 13 | his 25-year tenure as chairman of the board, one remains | ||||||
| 14 | constant:
his steadfast leadership and dedication to
serving | ||||||
| 15 | his students; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 16 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
| 17 | HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | ||||||
| 18 | congratulate Chairman Mark Stephens on everything he has | ||||||
| 19 | accomplished in
his 25 years as chairman of the board of | ||||||
| 20 | trustees at Triton
College; and be it further
| ||||||
| 21 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
