2 | | WHEREAS, Norman R. Bobins, a native Chicagoan and |
3 | | pre-eminent banker, has served the Illinois banking industry |
4 | | for a period spanning five decades; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Norman Bobins began his career in 1967 at the |
6 | | American National Bank and Trust Company in Chicago; in 1981, |
7 | | he joined Exchange National Bank, which was later acquired by |
8 | | LaSalle Bank; he retired from ABN AMRO and LaSalle Bank |
9 | | Corporation as chairman, president, and chief executive |
10 | | officer in 2007; and
|
11 | | WHEREAS, Norman Bobins currently serves as the |
12 | | non-executive chairman of The PrivateBank and Trust Company in |
13 | | Chicago and non-executive chairman of the board of Transco, |
14 | | Inc.; he also serves on the corporate boards of AAR CORP., |
15 | | Omega Healthcare Investors, Inc., and RREEF America REIT II, |
16 | | Inc.; and
|
17 | | WHEREAS, Norman Bobins has provided continuous leadership |
18 | | and has devoted a lifetime of community service to dozens of |
19 | | local, State, and national civic organizations, including |
20 | | serving four consecutive four-year terms as a member of the |
21 | | Chicago Board of Education, serving as a board trustee of WTTW |
22 | | Communications, Inc., where he served as chairman for six |

1 | | years, and as a member of the boards of directors of the |
2 | | Auditorium Theatre, Brain Research Foundation, The Field |
3 | | Museum, Illinois Holocaust Museum & Education Center, Illinois |
4 | | Sports Facilities Authority, Navy Pier, Inc., and the Wisconsin |
5 | | Alumni Research Foundation; and
|
6 | | WHEREAS, Norman Bobins is a Life Member of the University |
7 | | of Chicago Booth School of Business, former chairman of the |
8 | | board of the Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce, and has served as |
9 | | a member of the United States Holocaust Memorial Council; and
|
10 | | WHEREAS, Norman Bobins has received numerous awards |
11 | | including the Illinois Bankers Association's 2014 Illinois |
12 | | Banker of the Year Award, the 2012 Woodrow Wilson Award for |
13 | | Corporate Citizenship, the 2007 Order of Lincoln, the State of |
14 | | Illinois' highest award, the 2007 Chicagoland Chamber of |
15 | | Commerce's Daniel H. Burnham Distinguished Leadership Award, |
16 | | the 2003 University of Chicago Graduate School of Business' |
17 | | Distinguished Corporate Alumnus Award, and the 1992 Human |
18 | | Rights Medallion from the American Jewish Committee; |
19 | | therefore, be it

20 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE |
21 | | HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we |
22 | | recognize Norman R. Bobins for his outstanding leadership, |
23 | | selfless service, generous philanthropy, and willingness to |

1 | | help local communities prosper and thrive; and be it further |
2 | | RESOLVED, That we congratulate Norman Bobins for his 50 |
3 | | years of service to the banking industry and in helping to |
4 | | promote economic and job growth in the great State of Illinois, |
5 | | for serving as a teacher and mentor to so many Illinois |
6 | | bankers, and for his unfaltering commitment to community and |
7 | | State; and be it further

8 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be presented to |
9 | | Norman Bobins and his wife, Virginia, at the Annual Conference |
10 | | of the Illinois Bankers Association on June 23, 2017 as an |
11 | | expression of our esteem and respect.
