HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives wish to congratulate Kenneth W. Lukhard on the 
4occasion of his retirement after 12 years as president of 
5Advocate Christ Medical Center; and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, Advocate Christ Medical Center is a 749-bed 
7tertiary/quaternary campus located in Oak Lawn; it is part of 
8Advocate Health Care, ranked one of the nation's Top 5 large 
9health systems by Truven Analytics; with 12 hospitals and more 
10than 250 sites of care, it is the largest integrated health 
11system in Illinois; and
  
 
12    WHEREAS, Kenneth Lukhard's current team has won numerous 
13awards and received recognition for clinical outcomes, patient 
14and associate satisfaction, and nursing excellence; over the 
15course of his 30 years of hospital CEO experience, four of his 
16hospitals have achieved "100 Top Hospital" designation during 
17his tenure; "U.S. News & World Report" rates Advocate Christ 
18Medical Center as one of the best 50 medical centers in the 
19country in several specialties; and
  
 
20    WHEREAS, Kenneth Lukhard originally studied to be a 
21Presbyterian minister and earned his Bachelor of Arts in 
22Theology and his first graduate degree in counseling; after

1several years as a minister and psychological counselor, he 
2entered health care and earned a graduate degree in health 
3services administration from the University of San Francisco; 
4and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, Kenneth Lukhard and his wife, Carla, have seven 
6children and seven (soon to be eight) grandchildren;  he enjoys 
7various activities with his family; they are avid boaters and 
8enjoy snow skiing together; faith remains an integral part of 
9the Lukhard family; therefore, be it
  
 
  
10    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE 
11HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
12congratulate Kenneth W. Lukhard on his retirement after 12 
13years as president of Advocate Christ Medical Center, and we 
14wish him the best in all his future endeavors; and be it 
15further
  
 
16    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
17presented to Kenneth Lukhard as a symbol of our respect and 
18esteem.
