HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to recognize Tony Passero for his generous
4commitment to the transformation and enrichment of areas in the
5City of Chicago through his public artwork; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Tony Passero was born in Chicago and grew up on
7the city's North side with his mother, father, and younger
8sister; he attended the Chicago public grade school, Scammon,
9and the Catholic high school, Gordon Technical; a self-taught
10artist, he never attended art school or received formal
11training; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Tony Passero founded the TribeAgency, an
13advertising agency based out of Chicago; he is the lead
14creative director and CEO; he is also a celebrated graphic
15designer and has created work for many companies, including
16Dreamworks, Sony Music, Manchester United, Sears, and Taco
17Bell; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Tony Passero has contributed to numerous
19worldwide charities and countless local benevolences, such as
20the AIDSWalk, Chicago Gateway Green, Chicago Fire Foundation,
21Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, and United Way; he is a chair on
22the boards of several charities and community organizations,

1including Arts Alive Chicago, Alderman's Arts Advisory
2Committee, Independence Park Advisory Council, Foundation For
3A Better Life, and the Northwest Arts Connection; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Tony Passero envisions possibilities where others
5see filthy expressway viaducts or bleak train station walls; he
6notes places in the city that could use a transformation and
7improves the area by creating public art in the form of murals;
8the majority of his city mural work is self-funded; he donates
9his time and ideas, and also files appropriate paperwork with
10aldermen and transportation officials while building bridges
11with community members; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Tony Passero has conceived and painted his own
13murals at various locations in Chicago, including the Whoot
14Mural on Belmont Avenue, the Manifest Mural at the Pulaski Blue
15Line exit, the CrossCuts Mural at the Addison Kennedy
16Expressway Exit, the Positive Babel Mural at the Irving Park
17Metra Station, the Jumbo Jet Mural along the Kennedy
18Expressway, the Spin Cycles at 6 Corners Shopping District; the
19Colorribean Mural on Case Avenue, ad the Hep Cat Mural on
20Cicero Avenue; he also participated as one of the lead artists
21on the Addison and Avondale Mural and Police Memorial Mural on
22Montrose; therefore, be it
 
23    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE

1HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
2recognize Tony Passero on his generous and inspiring
3contributions to the betterment of neighborhoods in the City of
4Chicago and the lives of his fellow Chicagoans, and we
5encourage him to continue envisioning possibilities; and be it
6further
 
7    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
8presented to Tony Passero as an expression of our esteem and
9respect.
