2 | | WHEREAS, The State of Illinois recognizes the historical |
3 | | tradition of ethical values and principles which
are the basis |
4 | | of civilized society and upon which our great nation was |
5 | | founded; and

6 | | WHEREAS, These ethical values and principles have been the |
7 | | bedrock of society from the dawn of
civilization, when they |
8 | | were known as the Seven Noahide Laws; and
|
9 | | WHEREAS, In order to secure a bright future for America, we |
10 | | must instill in our children a love of
learning as well as a |
11 | | spirit of compassion, two of our nation's most cherished and |
12 | | enduring values; and

13 | | WHEREAS, The Lubavitch-Chabad movement has fostered and |
14 | | promoted these ethical values and
principles in all 50 states, |
15 | | 100 countries, and more than 3,000 communities around the |
16 | | world, and
through the educational and social service programs |
17 | | of their 47 centers in Illinois; and

18 | | WHEREAS, The importance of education and kindness was |
19 | | promoted in the teachings and programs of
Rabbi Menachem Mendel |
20 | | Schneerson, the Lubavitcher Rebbe of righteous memory, by |
21 | | inspiring
countless individuals to uphold these values in their |
