HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives wish to recognize the Culver's in Berwyn on 
4receiving the 8th Annual George W. Ashby Award for Business 
5Excellence; and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, The Culver's Berwyn location opened in 2011 and 
7has had a positive impact on the city ever since; franchisee 
8Guy Hollis was attracted to Berwyn because of the sense of 
9pride he felt from residents; he rode his bike through town to 
10get to know the area better and knew the location was perfect 
11for a brand new Culver's; and
  
 
12    WHEREAS, The business gives 1% of its sales to various 
13community events and fundraisers; they have participated in 
14numerous events such as Oktoberfest, the Zombie Walk, and the 
15Pub Crawl; it also gives dedicated employees the chance to 
16become part-owners at new Culver's locations through the Culver 
17Franchising System; and
  
 
18    WHEREAS, The George W. Ashby Award for Business Excellence 
19is a local honor named after one of Berwyn's distinguished 
20early architects; George Ashby was responsible for the design 
21of every grade school in Berwyn and J. Sterling Morton High 
22School; and

1    WHEREAS, Culver's dedication to the City of Berwyn is worth 
2celebrating; their involvement has made an incredible impact; 
3therefore, be it
  
 
4    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE 
5HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
6recognize the Culver's in Berwyn on receiving the 8th Annual 
7George W. Ashby Award for Business Excellence; and be it 
8further
  
 
9    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
10presented to Guy Hollis as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
