HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives wish to congratulate the Schlarman Academy 
4girls basketball team, the Hilltoppers, on winning the 
52017-2018 Illinois High School Association Class 1A State 
6Championship; and
  
 
7    WHEREAS, The Hilltoppers defeated Stockton High School by a 
8score of 53 to 31 on February 24, 2018 at Illinois State 
9University Redbird Arena in Normal; and
  
 
10    WHEREAS, This is the first girls basketball state title for 
11Schlarman Academy and the first for the school since 1981; 
12Schlarman Academy is a faith-based, preschool through high 
13school educational community that promotes spiritual, 
14intellectual, physical, and moral development in a dynamic 
15climate of academic excellence centered on Christian values and 
16the Catholic tradition; it is located in Danville and has a 
17student body of 99; and
 
18    WHEREAS, The Hilltoppers are Cece Damilano, Sydney Gouard, 
19Capria Brown, Anaya Peoples, Tannah Ceader, Janiah Newell, Emma 
20Bogen, Suzet Sermersheim, McKaylee Allen, and Destiny Dye; and
  
 
21    WHEREAS, The Hilltoppers are coached by Head Coach Keith

1Peoples and assistant coaches Jerry O'Neill, David Gouard, 
2Ollie Harrison, and LaTana Lillard; the managers are Ana 
3Fitzgerald, Mollie DeBoard, and Elizabeth Stimac; the 
4principal is Gail Lewis, the athletic director is Phil Sexton, 
5and the dean is Mark Croy; and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, The Hilltopper cheerleaders are Jaida Green, 
7Ainslee Johnson, Jayden King, Tamara Kriening, Sarah Lukas, 
8Regina Hinkle, Sara Switzer, Elijah Williams, Winne Zheng, and 
9Jessalyn Gonzalez; they are coached by Alicia Moody and 
10assistant coach Lexie Musson; therefore, be it
  
 
  
11    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE 
12HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
13congratulate the Schlarman Academy girls basketball team, the 
14Hilltoppers, on winning the 2017-2018 Illinois High School 
15Association Class 1A State Championship; and be it further
  
 
16    RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be 
17presented to the Hilltoppers and their coaches as a symbol of 
18our respect and esteem.
