2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
3 | | Representatives wish to congratulate Craig Roselieb
on a |
4 | | stellar career spanning 33 years as an instructor of music |
5 | | education and wish him well in his
upcoming retirement; and
|
6 | | WHEREAS, Craig Roselieb is a 1979 graduate of Downers Grove |
7 | | South (DGS) High School; he completed a
Bachelor of Music from |
8 | | Northern Illinois University in Music Education and Saxophone
|
9 | | Performance in 1984, where he was a three-year member of the |
10 | | NIU Jazz Ensemble under Ron Modell;
he was a winner in the 1983 |
11 | | Concerto Competition on alto saxophone as a student of Steve |
12 | | Duke; and
|
13 | | WHEREAS, Craig Roselieb earned a Master of Music in |
14 | | Instrumental Conducting from Northwestern
University in 1988, |
15 | | where he directed the Symphonic Band and Concert Band under |
16 | | John P. Paynter, and
directed the Jazz Lab Band and played jazz |
17 | | tenor in the Northwestern University Jazz Ensemble with Don
|
18 | | Owens; and
|
19 | | WHEREAS, After completing his master's degree, Craig |
20 | | Roselieb worked for three years at Glenbrook
North High School |
21 | | and two years at Wheaton Central High School before taking a |
22 | | job at his alma mater
28 years ago in 1990; he is currently |

1 | | completing his final year as Director of Bands at DGS; and |
2 | | WHEREAS, Craig Roselieb has taught virtually every music |
3 | | class available during his tenure at DGS, and
his current |
4 | | responsibilities at DGS include the Marching Mustangs, Wind |
5 | | Ensemble, Jazz
Ensemble, Wind, Symphony, Symphonic Band, and |
6 | | Concert Band; and |
7 | | WHEREAS, Craig Roselieb has led both domestic and |
8 | | international group travel experiences for students
to |
9 | | destinations including Germany, England, Switzerland, Rome, |
10 | | the Czech Republic, San Francisco,
Orlando, Hawaii, New |
11 | | Orleans, Tampa Bay, the Symphony Center in Chicago, and |
12 | | Carnegie Hall; and |
13 | | WHEREAS, In recent years, the Marching Band has been a |
14 | | three-time finalist in the Illinois State Marching
Band |
15 | | Championship, the Jazz Ensemble has been a finalist at the |
16 | | Essentially Ellington Festival in New
York and the Swing |
17 | | Central Jazz Festival in Savannah, Georgia, and the Wind |
18 | | Ensemble has been selected
three times for the University of |
19 | | Illinois Superstate Festival; the Jazz Ensemble was also |
20 | | selected to
perform at the 2011 Midwest Clinic, the 2012 |
21 | | Illinois Music Education Association (ILMEA) All-State
|
22 | | Festival, and the 2012 Chicago Jazz Festival; and |
|

1 | | WHEREAS, Craig Roselieb has served as the ILMEA District I |
2 | | President and is currently the ILMEA Jazz
Division President; |
3 | | he has maintained professional memberships in the National |
4 | | Association for Music
Education (NAfME) and the American School |
5 | | Band Director's Association (ASBDA); and |
6 | | WHEREAS, Craig Roselieb has garnered numerous professional |
7 | | citations, including the National Band
Association Citation |
8 | | for Excellence four times, the Chicagoland Outstanding Music |
9 | | Educator Award, and
the Mr. Holland's Opus Award; therefore, be |
10 | | it
|
11 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE |
12 | | HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we |
13 | | congratulate Craig Roselieb on making a positive difference in |
14 | | the lives of the countless students he taught at Downers Grove |
15 | | South High School, Glenbrook North High School, and Wheaton |
16 | | Central High School, and we wish him the best in all his future |
17 | | endeavors; and be it further

18 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
19 | | presented to Craig Roselieb as an
expression of our |
20 | | appreciation and esteem as he approaches retirement.
