HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of John J.
4"Jack" Lanigan Sr., who passed away on December 2, 2018; and
 
5    WHEREAS, John Lanigan was born on February 27, 1927; and
 
6    WHEREAS, John Lanigan founded Mi-Jack Products from his
7home in a south suburb of Chicago in 1954; over time, Mi-Jack
8became a multinational corporation providing machinery and
9solutions for the transportation and material handling
10industries worldwide; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Early on, Mi-Jack distributed self-propelled
12rubber tired gantry cranes and focused on the railroads and
13ports of the United States; in the early 1980s, Mi-Jack
14purchased the manufacturing rights to the cranes it had been
15selling, which helped open up new national and international
16markets; today, Mi-Jack is recognized worldwide as an industry
17leader and innovator; corporate headquarters remain in Hazel
18Crest; in addition, the company maintains four regional
19operations headquarters, five sales offices, and over 60
20intermodal terminals; and
 
21    WHEREAS, John Lanigan's business philosophy was simple,

1and his company worked to be the leader in any market it
2served; he believed in treating his old customers like new ones
3and also exceeding the expectations of his customers; and
 
4    WHEREAS, John Lanigan was the beloved husband of Patricia
5(Lynch) Lanigan, the loving father of Jack Jr. (Laura), Michael
6(Mary Kay), William (Donna), and Daniel (Jill) Lanigan, the
7devoted grandfather of 11, the cherished great-grandfather of
821, the fond brother of Patrick and the late Thomas, Miles,
9Catherine Dillon, and Margaret Delis, and the kind uncle of
10many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
 
11    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
12HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
13mourn the passing of John J. "Jack" Lanigan Sr. and extend our
14sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew
15and loved him; and be it further
 
16    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17presented to the family of John Lanigan as an expression of our
18deepest sympathy.
