AMENDMENT TO SENATE BILL 1442 




2    AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend Senate Bill 1442 by replacing 
3everything after the enacting clause with the following:

 
 
4    "Section 5. The Code of Criminal Procedure of 1963 is 
5amended  by adding the heading of Article 113A and Section 
6113A-1 as follows:
 
7    (725 ILCS 5/Art. 113A heading new)

ARTICLE 113A.  SPECIAL ADVOCATES

 
9    (725 ILCS 5/113A-1 new)
10    Sec. 113A-1. Special advocates. In a county with a 
11population of more than 3,000,000 inhabitants for the 
12prosecution of a case involving the injury, health, or safety 
13of an animal, the court may, on its own motion or motion of any 
14party, appoint a special advocate to assist the court, as 
15deemed appropriate by the court, and represent the interests of

1justice regarding the health or safety of the animal. If the 
2court appoints a special advocate in the case, the court may 
3select from a list of pro bono attorneys and law students 
4compiled by the Cook County Sheriff's Office, in partnership 
5with local and State bar associations for that purpose.".
