| 1 | | AN ACT concerning local government.
|
| 2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
| 3 | | represented in the General Assembly:
|
| 4 | | Section 5. The Illinois Local Library Act is amended by |
| 5 | | adding Section 4-18 as follows:
|
| 6 | | (75 ILCS 5/4-18 new) |
| 7 | | Sec. 4-18. Advisory referenda. By a vote of the majority of |
| 8 | | the members of the board of trustees, the board may authorize |
| 9 | | an advisory question directly related to the operation of the |
| 10 | | library to be placed on the ballot at the next regularly |
| 11 | | scheduled election in the city, village, incorporated town, or |
| 12 | | township in which the public library is located. The board |
| 13 | | shall certify the question to the proper election authority, |
| 14 | | which must submit the question at an election in accordance |
| 15 | | with the Election Code.

| 16 | | Section 10. The Public Library District Act of 1991 is |
| 17 | | amended by adding Section 30-62 as follows:
