Amends the Illinois Employment First Act. Requires State agencies to study the benefits for individuals with disabilities who utilize the ABLE account program to maximize their employment opportunities. Provides that no later than 90 days after the effective date of this amendatory Act, each State agency shall issue a report of findings and recommendations to the General Assembly.

1 | | AN ACT concerning State government.
|
2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
3 | | represented in the General Assembly:
|
4 | | Section 5. The Illinois Employment First Act is amended by |
5 | | adding Section 15.5 as follows: |
6 | | (20 ILCS 40/15.5 new) |
7 | | Sec. 15.5. ABLE accounts. The Department of Human Services |
8 | | and the Department of Healthcare and Family Services, along |
9 | | with all applicable State agencies, shall study the benefits |
10 | | for individuals with disabilities, including developmental |
11 | | disabilities, who utilize the ABLE account program, as provided |
12 | | under Section 16.6 of the State Treasurer Act, to maximize |
13 | | their employment opportunities, including the ability of such |
14 | | individuals to work more hours each week at their discretion. |
15 | | No later than 90 days after the effective date of this |
16 | | amendatory Act of the 100th General Assembly, each State agency |
17 | | shall issue a report of findings to the General Assembly, |
18 | | including recommendations on increasing awareness of the ABLE |
19 | | account program for individuals with disabilities in the |
20 | | workforce.
