SENATE JOINT RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, It is with great humility that the Illinois 
3General Assembly has the opportunity to pay respect
and tribute 
4to great individuals who have given their lives in service to 
5their communities; and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, Robert Tatman was born on March 6, 1940 in 
7Champaign; he  began his service with the  Champaign
Police 
8Department on August 1, 1962; and
  
 
9    WHEREAS, Champaign Police Officer Robert Tatman was shot 
10and killed in the line of duty on November
25, 1967; and
  
 

  
11    WHEREAS, Robert Tatman was survived by his wife and four 
12children; therefore, be it
  
 
13    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL 
14ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES 
15CONCURRING HEREIN, that we designate West Church Street in 
16Champaign, as it runs from North Country Fair Drive to North 
17Mattis Avenue, as "Officer Robert L. Tatman Memorial Drive"; 
18and be it further
 
19    RESOLVED, That the Illinois Department of Transportation 
20is requested to erect at suitable locations,
consistent with

1State and Federal regulations, appropriate plaques or signs 
2giving notice of the name
"Officer Robert L. Tatman Memorial 
3Drive"; and be it further
  
 
4    RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be 
5presented to the family of Officer Tatman and to the
Secretary 
6of the Illinois Department of Transportation.
