| 1 | SENATE JOINT RESOLUTION

| 2 | WHEREAS, It is highly fitting that the Illinois General | ||||||
| 3 | Assembly pays honor and respect to the truly great individuals | ||||||
| 4 | who have served their communities; and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Deputy Sheriff Adam Streicher dreamed of being a | ||||||
| 6 | police officer at a young age; he started as a Police Explorer | ||||||
| 7 | in high school and later attended college to earn a criminal | ||||||
| 8 | justice degree while working as a Code Enforcer for the City of | ||||||
| 9 | Kewanee; and
| ||||||
| 10 | WHEREAS, Deputy Sheriff Adam Streicher worked for the | ||||||
| 11 | Villages of Atkinson, Sheffield, and Annawan, which was his | ||||||
| 12 | hometown, before accepting employment as a Sheriff's Deputy for | ||||||
| 13 | Stark County in 2001; and
| ||||||
| 14 | WHEREAS, On March 22, 2002, Deputy Sheriff Adam Streicher | ||||||
| 15 | was shot and killed while attempting to serve a failure to pay | ||||||
| 16 | warrant; and
| ||||||
| 17 | WHEREAS, Deputy Sheriff Adam Streicher graduated from | ||||||
| 18 | Annawan High School in 1997; another fallen police officer, | ||||||
| 19 | Michigan State Trooper, Chad Wolf, graduated from Annawan High | ||||||
| 20 | School in 1995; and | ||||||

| 1 | WHEREAS, On August 28, 2015, Michigan State Trooper Chad | ||||||
| 2 | Wolf was killed while on patrol when his motorcycle was struck | ||||||
| 3 | by a vehicle; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 4 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL | ||||||
| 5 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES | ||||||
| 6 | CONCURRING HEREIN, that we designate the Illinois Route 78 | ||||||
| 7 | overpass over Interstate 80 as the Deputy Adam Streicher and | ||||||
| 8 | Trooper Chad Wolf Memorial Overpass; and be it further
| ||||||
| 9 | RESOLVED, That the Illinois Department of Transportation | ||||||
| 10 | is requested to erect at suitable locations, consistent with | ||||||
| 11 | State and federal regulations, appropriate plaques or signs | ||||||
| 12 | giving notice of the name of the Deputy Adam Streicher and | ||||||
| 13 | Trooper Chad Wolf Memorial Overpass; and be it further | ||||||
| 14 | RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be | ||||||
| 15 | delivered to the Secretary of the Illinois Department of | ||||||
| 16 | Transportation and the families of Deputy Sheriff Adam | ||||||
| 17 | Streicher and Trooper Chad Wolf.
