| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Michael "Mike" Schuch of Crystal Lake, |
| 4 | | who passed away on December 9, 2016; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Michael Schuch was born in Grabatz, Romania to |
| 6 | | Michael and Mary Schuch on December 6, 1928; he and his family |
| 7 | | became refugees during World War II and emigrated to the United |
| 8 | | States; he entered the United States Army in 1951 and was sent |
| 9 | | to Korea, where as a machinist he helped build runways; he |
| 10 | | served in the 840th Engineer Battalion and earned three medals: |
| 11 | | the Korean Service Medal, the Bronze Service Star, and the |
| 12 | | United Nations Service Medal; he married Trudy Huff in Twin |
| 13 | | Lakes, Wisconsin on August 21, 1954 and they lived in Chicago |
| 14 | | for two years before moving to Crystal Lake, where they resided |
| 15 | | for 60 years; and
|
| 16 | | WHEREAS, Michael Schuch retired in 1991 from Shakeproof in |
| 17 | | Elgin after 27 years; and
|
| 18 | | WHEREAS, Michael Schuch loved to create and fix things; his |
| 19 | | biggest projects were building a two-car garage and a deck with |
| 20 | | a screen house, where he spent much of his time relaxing; for |
| 21 | | many years, he and his family vacationed in their camper in |
| 22 | | Wild Rose, Wisconsin; he loved playing horseshoes and bowling; |
