SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of John Charles "Jack" Differding of Harvard, who passed away on December 12, 2016 at the age of 68; and

WHEREAS, John Differding was born in Chicago to Charles J. and Claire E. (Cushing) Differding on February 28, 1948; he married Barbara Jo Jensen at Trinity Lutheran Church in Park Forest on October 28, 1972; and

WHEREAS, John Differding began his career as a school psychologist at SEDOM in 1977; he continued his career there until his retirement in 2011; he was a longtime member of the National Association of School Psychologists and the Illinois School Psychologists Association; he was named "Practitioner of the Year" by the ISPA in 1992; he also belonged to the Illinois Retired Teachers Association; he was an avid collector and seller of sports cards and memorabilia through his business, "JCK Sports Cards"; and

WHEREAS, John Differding was preceded in death by his grandparents; his father, Charles; his four uncles and one aunt; and

WHEREAS, John Differding is survived by his wife, Barbara; his mother, Claire; his two children, Christopher (Eva Ambler) Differding and Kimberly Differding; his four grandchildren; his eight siblings, Jim (Jim Dickes) Differding, Virginia Differding, Bill (Linda) Differding, Nancy (Frank) Jones, Paul (Laura) Differding, Susan (Jerry) Niendorf, Sally (Craig) Berry, and Michael (Dana) Differding; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his family and friends, mourn the passing of John Charles "Jack" Differding, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of John Differding as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
