| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Walter F. Aerne of Glen Carbon, who |
| 4 | | passed away on February 12, 2017; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Walter Aerne was born in Granite City to Henry O. |
| 6 | | and Rose M. (DeGonia) Aerne on April 22, 1930; he served in the |
| 7 | | United States Marine Corps from 1951 to 1953 during the Korean |
| 8 | | War and was active with the U.S. Marine Corps Band; he married |
| 9 | | Lucile E. Colin in Glen Carbon on May 19, 2007; and
|
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Walter Aerne was the co-founder and owner of AMSCO |
| 11 | | Mechanical, Inc. in Granite City; he served as President of |
| 12 | | Great Southwestern Illinois Association of Plumbing, Heating |
| 13 | | and Cooling Contractors (PHCC) for 30 years, which created the |
| 14 | | Walt Aerne Leadership Award to recognize significant |
| 15 | | leadership contributors to the organization; and
|
| 16 | | WHEREAS, Walter Aerne was a member of the Illinois PHCC and |
| 17 | | served as the Chairman of the statewide convention for many |
| 18 | | years; he served as a Trustee for the Plumbers Local #360 and |
| 19 | | Steamfitters Local #439; and |
| 20 | | WHEREAS, Walter Aerne had a love of music and the trumpet |
| 21 | | that continued throughout his lifetime; he cherished his |
|

| 1 | | children and grandchildren and took joy in being among his |
| 2 | | family and friends; and
|
| 3 | | WHEREAS, Walter Aerne was preceded in death by his parents; |
| 4 | | his son, Dean Aerne; his grandson, Shane Aerne; his brothers, |
| 5 | | Clarence and Art Aerne; and his sisters, Anna May Foster, and |
| 6 | | Roselee Hoelter; and
|
| 7 | | WHEREAS, Walter Aerne is survived by his wife, Lucile; his |
| 8 | | daughters, Jorja (Kent) Dickemann, Jo Aerne, and Debra Aerne |
| 9 | | (Kristopher Loewe); his son, David (Melissa) Aerne; his |
| 10 | | stepsons, James Chambers, and Christopher (Pam) Chambers; his |
| 11 | | grandchildren, Nathan (Laura), Meagan (fiance Brent), Clayton, |
| 12 | | Dane, and Caleb; his honorary grandson, Josh; his |
| 13 | | step-grandchildren, Ashley (Brad), Katie, Gus, Caroline, Max, |
| 14 | | Olivia, Sam, Alyssa, and Leslee; his great-granddaughter, |
| 15 | | Margo; his step-great-granddaughter, Kendyll; many nieces and |
| 16 | | nephews; and other extended family and friends; therefore, be |
| 17 | | it

| 18 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL |
| 19 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
| 20 | | Walter F. Aerne, and extend our sincere condolences to his |
| 21 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it |
