SENATE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to 
3learn of the death of George T. Jiaras of McHenry, who passed 
4away on January 16, 2017 at the age of 89; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, George Jiaras was born in Chicago to Thomas and 
6Stella (Goumas) Jiaras on February 14, 1927; and
  
 
7    WHEREAS, George Jiaras owned a Happy Foods store for many 
8years; he moved to the McHenry area while owning Garden Fresh 
9Produce; after his retirement he worked as a cashier and 
10greeter at the International House of Wine and Cheese and 
11American Cafe in Richmond; and
  
 
12    WHEREAS, George Jiaras enjoyed playing bridge at the 
13Crystal Lake Senior Center; his family and friends will miss 
14him very much; and
  
 
15    WHEREAS, George Jiaras was preceded in death by his wife, 
16Doris A. Jiaras; and his parents, Thomas and Stella Jiaras; and
  
 
17    WHEREAS, George Jiaras is survived by his daughter, Teresa 
18(Shawn) M. Patterson; his grandchildren, Robert (Mary) 
19Schepler, and Richard (Amanda) Schepler; his brother, Michael 
20(Donna) Jiaras; and his nephews, Tom Jiaras, MJ Jiaras, and

2    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL 
3ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of 
4George T. Jiaras, and extend our sincere condolences to his 
5family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it 
6further
  
 
7    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
8presented to the family of George Jiaras as an expression of 
9our deepest sympathy.
