SENATE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to 
3learn of the death of Thomas Jerome Drew of Carlinville, who 
4passed away on February 25, 2017; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, Thomas Drew was born in Carlinville to Patrick and 
6Mary (Kelly) Drew on February 25, 1926; he graduated from 
7Carlinville High School in 1944 and  served in the United States  
8Navy as a Gunner's Mate Third Class during World War II; he 
9married Marjorie Huyear in Carlinville on April 23, 1949; and
  
 
10    WHEREAS, Thomas Drew was a Lieutenant in the Illinois State 
11Police, retiring in 1978; following retirement, he worked for 
12Koster Construction, the Macoupin County Housing Authority, 
13and farmed; and
  
 
14    WHEREAS, Thomas Drew was a 65-year member of the Guy Baird 
15American Legion Post #544 in Carlinville; he was also a  member 
16of SS Mary and Joseph Catholic Church in Carlinville and the 
17Knights of Columbus #663; he enjoyed spending time with his 
18family and outdoor activities; and
  
 
19    WHEREAS, Thomas Drew was preceded in death by his parents; 
20his sister, Rita Yowell; and his brothers, Henry, Robert, and 
21John Drew; and

1    WHEREAS, Thomas Drew is survived by his wife of 67 years, 
2Marjorie; his daughters, Marjorie (Jude) Glow, Nancy (Robert) 
3Colantino, and Colleen (James) Lutz; his  sons, Curt and Patrick 
4(Kristi) Drew; 11 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; 
5his sisters-in-law, Charlotte and Virginia Drew; and a large 
6extended family; therefore, be it
  
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL 
8ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of 
9Thomas Jerome Drew, and extend our sincere condolences to his 
10family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it 
11further
  
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
13presented to  the family of  Thomas Drew as an expression of our 
14deepest sympathy.
