SENATE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to 
3learn of the death of Kenneth Self, formerly of Waukegan, who 
4passed away on February 8, 2017; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, Kenneth Self was born and raised in Tellico 
6Plains, Tennessee; he married Yvonne Murphy in 1964; and
  
 
7    WHEREAS, Kenneth Self was a professional driver and retired 
8from bus driving after a 30-year career; and
  
 
9    WHEREAS, Kenneth Self was a local legend and master 
10mechanic; he custom built his own Triumph motorcycles and  
11collected 1969 Mustangs from all over the United States, 
12restoring them to factory condition; he won numerous trophies 
13at auto shows; he also enjoyed traveling, old movies, and 
14history; and
  
 
15    WHEREAS, Kenneth Self was preceded in death by his parents, 
16Robert Lester and Ersa Jean (Akins) Self, and his brother, 
17William Self; and
  
 
18    WHEREAS, Kenneth Self is survived by his wife of 53 years, 
19Yvonne; his son, Kenneth John Self; his  daughters, Justine 
20(Steve) Kevek, and Kathleen Wilson (Andrew Liston); his

1grandchildren, Kenneth (Kathryn) Klomp, John Ken Self, Clara 
2Kevek, and Mary Kevek; his  great-granddaughter, Kayla Rose 
3Klomp; his  brothers, Chuck Self, and Robert (Trish) Self; his  
4sisters, Pat Carey, and Lois Preston; his favorite uncle, Bill 
5(Margaret) Akins; and numerous nieces and nephews; therefore, 
6be it
  
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL 
8ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of 
9Kenneth Self, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, 
10friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further
  
 
11    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
12presented to  the family of  Kenneth Self as an expression of our 
13deepest sympathy.
