SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Albert M. "Al" Jourdan Jr. of Johnsburg,
4who passed away on February 25, 2017; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Albert Jourdan Jr. was born in Oak Park to Albert
6M. Sr. and Charlotte (Sellick) Jourdan on September 19, 1934;
7and
 
8    WHEREAS, Albert Jourdan Jr. began his career as a
9meatpacker like his father; until 1970, he was the general
10manager of Jourdan Packing House, a fourth-generation
11family-owned sausage making and packing house on Chicago's
12south side; through his business contacts, he became acquainted
13with Richard B. Ogilvie, and later helped deliver the vote in
14Ogilvie's successful bid for governor in 1968; his political
15career began in 1961 when he became McHenry Township 16th
16precinct committeeman; he was chosen as the McHenry County
17Republican Chairman in 1968 and served in that role until 1998;
18from 1972 until 1997, he was McHenry County Auditor, and from
191991-1993, he served as the head of the Illinois Republican
20Party; in 1998, he became the first inductee into the McHenry
21County Republican Foundation's Hall of Fame; he was appointed
22to the RTA board in 2008 and served until 2013; in recent
23years, he served as a political consultant for many candidates

1and projects within McHenry County and the State; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Albert Jourdan Jr. was a diehard fan of the Green
3Bay Packers, despite growing up in a household of Chicago Bears
4fans; he also had fun supporting the Chicago White Sox; he
5enjoyed spending time outside with his family and boating; he
6was an active member in the Johnsburg Community Club and was a
7former member of the Johnsburg Kiwanis Club, Bimbo's SAC
8Athletic Baseball Club, and the Sunnyside Inn Baseball Club; he
9was an outstanding member of the Loyal Order of Raccoon for the
10State of Illinois; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Albert Jourdan Jr. will be fondly remembered for
12being a loving husband, father, grandfather,
13great-grandfather, mentor, and friend to many; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Albert Jourdan Jr. was preceded in death by his
15parents, and his sister, Charlene Fischer; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Albert Jourdan Jr. is survived by the love of his
17life and wife of 62 years, Carolyn "Carrie" (Kollman) Jourdan;
18his daughter Debra Diedrich, and son Albert III (Kelline)
19Jourdan; seven grandchildren, Christine Diedrich, Scott
20(Laura) Diedrich, Austin Jourdan, Samantha (Eric) Tatera,
21Jonathan (Kristin) McMeins, Amanda Kochan, and Michelle (Matt)
22Mutchler; and seven great-grandchildren, Leland Tatera,

1Brayden Kochan, Mason Mutchler, Wyatt Kochan, Lexie Tatera,
2Alex Diedrich, and Morgan Mutchler; therefore, be it
 
3    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
4ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
5Albert M. "Al" Jourdan Jr., and extend our sincere condolences
6to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be
7it further
 
8    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
9presented to the family of Albert Jourdan Jr. as an expression
10of our deepest sympathy.
