| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Ronald Haznedl, who passed away on |
| 4 | | February 16, 2017; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Ronald Haznedl was born in Berwyn to Frank and |
| 6 | | Mildred (Straka) Haznedl on October 1, 1935; he graduated from |
| 7 | | J. Sterling Morton High School in Cicero; he obtained his |
| 8 | | bachelor's degree from Wheaton College, attended New York |
| 9 | | Theological Seminary, and received his Master of Divinity from |
| 10 | | McCormick Theological Seminary in Chicago; later, he earned a |
| 11 | | master's degree in anthropology at Northern Illinois |
| 12 | | University; and |
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Ronald Haznedl taught philosophy, anthropology, |
| 14 | | and related disciplines at McHenry County College (MCC), where |
| 15 | | he created a new course, Archaeology of the Ancient Middle |
| 16 | | East, and enjoyed sharing his knowledge and experiences with |
| 17 | | his students; he continued to share his experiences with a |
| 18 | | variety of groups young and old during and after his tenure at |
| 19 | | MCC, helping people understand the rich culture of the Middle |
| 20 | | East on a personal level; and

| 21 | | WHEREAS, In 1959, Ronald Haznedl participated in an |
| 22 | | archaeological excavation in Palestine, where he discovered |
