SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of John T. Onan of Waukegan, who passed away
4on February 24, 2017; and
 
5    WHEREAS, John Onan was born to Thomas H. and Ashen C. Onan
6on March 10, 1932; he graduated from Waukegan High School and
7served as a Corporal in the United States Army during the
8Korean War; he married Eloise on November 14, 1959; and
 
9    WHEREAS, John Onan worked for Skokie Valley Asphalt and
10paved the foundation for most of the roads in Lake County; in
111968, he joined his brother to work at Onan Construction; and
 
12    WHEREAS, John Onan held a lifetime membership in the
13American Legion and the Knights of Columbus; he belonged to St.
14Anastasia Church in Waukegan, and most recently, Saint Anne
15Catholic Community in Barrington; and
 
16    WHEREAS, John Onan was an avid fan of baseball,
17particularly the Chicago White Sox; he enjoyed the success of
18the 2016 Chicago Cubs with his family; he was also a fan of the
19Green Bay Packers; he enjoyed wintering in Marco Island,
20Florida; and

1    WHEREAS, John Onan was preceded in death by his wife,
2Eloise, and his parents; and
 
3    WHEREAS, John Onan is survived by his children, Cindy (Tom)
4Cramer, and Bob (Amy) Onan; his grandchildren, Madeline, Emily,
5and Miah Cramer, and Mackenzie, Callahan, and Lemmy Onan; and
6his brothers, Tom (Harriet) Onan, Jerry Onan, and Jim (Linda)
7Onan; therefore, be it
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
9ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
10John T. Onan, and extend our sincere condolences to his family,
11friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13presented to the family of John Onan as an expression of our
14deepest sympathy.
