SENATE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to 
3learn of the death of Donald E. Rhodes of Crystal Lake, who 
4passed away on February 28, 2017; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, Donald Rhodes was born in Chicago to Elliott and 
6Elsie (Ungeheuer) Rhodes on October 24, 1933; he served in the 
7United States Army and married Carol L. Overton in Chicago on 
8May 4, 1957; and
  
 
9    WHEREAS, Donald Rhodes worked at ITW/Shakeproof for 35 
10years; and
  
 
11    WHEREAS, Donald Rhodes was a member of the American Legion; 
12he played trumpet for over 60 years and played in many groups 
13over the years, which included the Woodstock City Band, the 
14John Guerra Band, the Vito Buffalo Band, the McHenry City Band, 
15the MCC Band, the Sun City Concert Band, and the Sinful Saints; 
16he also played Taps for many veterans; he was also a longtime 
17member of First Congregational Church in Crystal Lake; and
  
 
18    WHEREAS, Donald Rhodes was preceded in death by his parents 
19and his nephew, Raymond Moore; and
  
 
20    WHEREAS, Donald Rhodes is survived by his wife, Carol; his

1sons, David (Janice) and Jeffrey (Vicky) Rhodes; his 
2grandchildren, Jessica, Zachary, and Thomas "TJ" Rhodes; his 
3sister, Janet (Bob) Greer; and his nephew, Eddie Moore; 
4therefore, be it
  
 
5    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL 
6ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of 
7Donald E. Rhodes, and extend our sincere condolences to his 
8family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it 
9further
  
 
10    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
11presented to  the family of  Donald Rhodes as an expression of 
12our deepest sympathy.
