SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Ronald L. Milligan of Edwardsville, who
4passed away on March 16, 2017; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Ronald Milligan was born in Alton to Jesse and
6Mary Louise (Logdon) Milligan on January 7, 1944; he attended
7East Alton Wood River High School from 1958 to 1962, where he
8was an outstanding athlete, playing basketball, football, and
9baseball for the Oilers and receiving the All-State Shortstop
10honors; he graduated from Southern Illinois University
11Edwardsville with an accounting degree and served in the United
12States Air Force Reserve for six years; he married Joyce
13Schillinger on March 26, 1966; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Ronald Milligan retired from Christian Health
15Services (now BJC HealthCare) in 1995 after 23 years of
16dedicated service; he worked his way up to Chief Financial
17Officer and played an instrumental role in the formation of the
18BJC Healthcare Corporation; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Ronald Milligan served on numerous boards,
20including Christian Hospital, Christian Health Services, Alton
21Memorial Health Services Foundation, Alton Memorial Hospital,
22Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville School of

1Business, and River Bend Family Ministries; he also served as
2President and as a Board Member with the Missouri Hospital
3Financial Association and Sunset Hills Country Club in
4Edwardsville; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Ronald Milligan was an active member of Whitelaw
6Avenue Baptist Church in Wood River, where he served as a
7deacon, finance chairman, and Sunday School teacher for 50
8years; he had a passion for golf and spent many hours on the
9links with his wife and friends; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Ronald Milligan was preceded in death by his
11parents and his infant sister, Connie Sue Milligan; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Ronald Milligan is survived by his wife, Joyce;
13his children, Jennie Fuller, and Jill (Chris) Gocal; and his
14grandchildren, Lauren Ufert, Zach Ufert, and Chloe Fuller;
15therefore, be it
 
16    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
17ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
18Ronald L. Milligan, and extend our sincere condolences to his
19family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
20further
 
21    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
