| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
| 3 | learn of the death of Lieutenant General Everett H. "Ev" Pratt | ||||||
| 4 | Jr., USAF, Retired, of Prairie Grove, who passed away on March | ||||||
| 5 | 15, 2017; and
| ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, General Pratt was born in Covington, Georgia to | ||||||
| 7 | Everett and Ruth (Elliott) Pratt on November 25, 1943; and
| ||||||
| 8 | WHEREAS, General Pratt entered the United States Air Force | ||||||
| 9 | in 1964 as a graduate of the Emory University Reserve Officer | ||||||
| 10 | Training Corps program in Atlanta, Georgia; he was a commander | ||||||
| 11 | at all levels; he was a command pilot and flew more than 4,000 | ||||||
| 12 | hours, principally in fighter and trainer aircraft; he flew as | ||||||
| 13 | a fighter pilot and high-speed forward air controller in | ||||||
| 14 | Vietnam; he earned a bachelor's degree in international affairs | ||||||
| 15 | from Emory University; he later graduated from the Air Forces | ||||||
| 16 | Air Command and Staff College, the Air War College, and the | ||||||
| 17 | Executive Program in National and International Security at | ||||||
| 18 | Harvard University; he earned multiple awards and decorations | ||||||
| 19 | including the Silver Star, the Distinguished Service Medal, the | ||||||
| 20 | Legion of Merit, the Distinguished Flying Cross with three Oak | ||||||
| 21 | Leaf Clusters, the Meritorious Service Medal with two Oak Leaf | ||||||
| 22 | Clusters, the Air Medal with 29 Oak Leaf Clusters, and an Air | ||||||
| 23 | Force Commendation Medal; and | ||||||

| |||||||
| 1 | WHEREAS, After retiring from the Air Force, General Pratt | ||||||
| 2 | consulted for and worked at Northrop Grumman as Vice-President | ||||||
| 3 | of the Defensive Systems Division; during his time as a retired | ||||||
| 4 | veteran, he was on the board of TLS Veterans in McHenry and | ||||||
| 5 | Leave No Veteran Behind in Chicago; he was an advocate for CASA | ||||||
| 6 | and a member of the U.S. Air Force Retiree Council and Disabled | ||||||
| 7 | American Veterans; and | ||||||
| 8 | WHEREAS, General Pratt was an avid golfer and a lifelong | ||||||
| 9 | fan of the Atlanta Braves and Atlanta Falcons; in his | ||||||
| 10 | retirement, he enjoyed traveling with his wife, and spending | ||||||
| 11 | time all over the United States and Europe; and
| ||||||
| 12 | WHEREAS, General Pratt was the loving husband of 39 years | ||||||
| 13 | of Joyce (Rafferty); the proud father of Thomas (Christine) and | ||||||
| 14 | Stephen Pratt; the cherished grandfather of Maeve Pratt; the | ||||||
| 15 | beloved brother of Sue Loiselle, and Michael (Marty) Pratt; and | ||||||
| 16 | the uncle to many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 17 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL | ||||||
| 18 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
| 19 | Lieutenant General Everett H. "Ev" Pratt Jr., USAF, Retired, | ||||||
| 20 | and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and | ||||||
| 21 | all who knew and loved him; and be it further
| ||||||

| 1 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 2 | presented to the family of General Pratt as an expression of | ||||||
| 3 | our deepest sympathy.
