SENATE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to 
3learn of the death of Dr. Daniel J. Burke of Lake Forest, who 
4passed away on March 27, 2017; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Dr. Daniel Burke was born in Waukegan to Paul and 
6Marijo (Tidy) Burke on December 4, 1951; and
  
 
7    WHEREAS, Dr. Daniel Burke was a nationally recognized 
8expert in equine nutrition and loved to share his knowledge and 
9passion with other horse lovers; as a    university professor, he 
10was able to share his knowledge of horses and their nutrition 
11in his lecture forums; and
  
 
12    WHEREAS, Dr. Daniel Burke dearly loved his family and 
13friends; he was passionate about his work in equine nutrition 
14and had a true love for horses; he was a fan of the Chicago Cubs 
15and the Fighting Illini; he was extremely proud of his family's 
16academic and athletic endeavors and rarely missed an event or a 
17game; his sense of humor and compassion for others made him 
18universally loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew 
19him; and
  
 
20    WHEREAS, Dr. Daniel Burke is survived by his wife Abbe; his 
21children, Gavin (Maria) Burke, and Kaitlin (Matthew) Geissler;

1his sisters, Marianne (Edward) Semrad, Maureen (Tony) 
2Domerchie, Catherine (Bob) Powers, Pat (Ray) Vukovich, and 
3Bridget Morrill; and several nieces, nephews, and pets; 
4therefore, be it
  
 
5    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL 
6ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of 
7Dr. Daniel J. Burke, and extend our sincere condolences to his 
8family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it 
9further
 
10    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
11presented to the family of Dr. Daniel Burke as an expression of 
12our deepest sympathy.
