2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 | | learn of the death of Jo Ann Marie Robinson of Bolingbrook, who |
4 | | passed away in April of 2017; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Jo Ann Robinson was born in Bolingbrook on June |
6 | | 27, 1956; she graduated from DuSable High School; and
|
7 | | WHEREAS, Jo Ann Robinson served in prison ministry from |
8 | | 1993 to 1998; she hosted an award-winning cable show, "From the |
9 | | Heart Show"; and
|
10 | | WHEREAS, Jo Ann Robinson founded the H.E.A.R.T. |
11 | | Organization Community Service Program in 1999 and served as |
12 | | its director; participants in the program are affectionately |
13 | | known throughout her community as the "Spiritual Boot Camp |
14 | | Soldiers"; the program has assisted thousands of children, |
15 | | helping them avoid prosecution and convictions; it has been |
16 | | featured in the Joliet Herald, the Bolingbrook Sun, and The |
17 | | Patch Newspaper; and |
18 | | WHEREAS, Jo Ann Robinson was awarded the "John F. |
19 | | Whiteside" lifetime achievement award from the Will County |
20 | | Sheriff's Department, the "National Chiefs of Police |
21 | | Citation", and the "Seekers of Justice Award" from the Black |
