SENATE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to 
3learn of the death of Chester M. Iwan of Winthrop Harbor, who 
4passed away on April 18, 2017; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Chester Iwan was born in Waukegan to Frank and 
6Lillian (March) Iwan on June 8, 1947; he served his country in 
7the United States Marine Corps from 1965 to 1968 and  did two 
8tours of duty in the Vietnam War; and
  
 
9    WHEREAS, Chester Iwan worked for the Lake County Sheriff's 
10Office from 1968 to 1997; he held the rank of Lieutenant and 
11was appointed Deputy Chief of the Criminal Investigation 
12Division; and
  
 
13    WHEREAS, Chester Iwan was a member of the Polish Legion of 
14American Veterans, the VFW, and the Fraternal Order of Police; 
15and

  
 
16    WHEREAS, Chester Iwan was preceded in death by his parents; 
17and
  
 
18    WHEREAS, Chester Iwan is survived by his wife, Rebecca 
19(Day) Iwan; his pet, Baxter; his brothers, Henry (Barbara) 
20Iwan, and Stanley (Lenore) Iwan; his sister-in-law, Judi Czech,

1and many nieces, nephews, and friends in Lake County and 
2Sarasota, Florida; therefore, be it
  
 
3    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL 
4ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of 
5Chester M. Iwan, and extend our sincere condolences to his 
6family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it 
7further
 
8    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
9presented to the family of Chester Iwan as an expression of our 
10deepest sympathy.
